RNI X Mondvol (Women's Month 2025)

RUSHMERE NOACH BRINGS MODVOL TO GQEBERHA IN CELEBRATION OF WOMEN'S MONTH.

On Friday, 1 August, established Gqeberha law firm, Rushmere Noach Incorporated, hosted an event with Andriette Georgiou, owner and founder of Cape Town based bakery MONDVOL, as the guest speaker.

In celebration of Women’s Month, female clients of the firm were invited to join the event held at Muse restaurant in Walmer.

MONDVOL, winner of the 2024 Food and Home gold award for best in “Sweet and Savoury Snack”, is baking up a storm with their New York Style cookies.

“We’re not just about baking; we’re about creating opportunities for other women” said Georgiou, whose passion for spreading joy through her signature cookies is obvious to all.

Georgiou is a wife, a mother, the runner-up of Masterchef SA season 4, a businesswoman and the boss lady of MONDVOL. From starting off in her parents’ garage and ordering 2000 boxes before any cookie orders were received, to moving into a warehouse last month and having sold 197k cookies in two years, Georgiou believed in a dream which became a reality.

Georgiou shared her inspirational story with those at the event - from being retrenched, to baking cakes to make a living, entering and becoming runner-up of MasterChef SA season 4 and her MONDVOL journey.   “A cookie is just a cookie but it can also be worth so much. I want to spread JOY, there are enough miserable things out there – but there should be space for joy too!” Georgiou said.

“We thought Andriette would be the perfect guest speaker for the firm’s Women’s Month event.  MONDVOL is a flourishing female-owned enterprise.  Its core values, which include ‘inclusiveness’, and Andriette’s inspiring journey align with the message we wanted to share,” said Liane Koorsse, one of the firm’s five female Directors.  “At Rushmere Noach we support gender parity and inclusiveness in the workplace, the idea that women can hold a space together with their male counterparts” Koorsse said.

The firm, whose board of Directors is made up of a five to four female to male split, is testament to this.  These female leaders cover a full spectrum of services at the firm, including Litigation, Conveyancing, Bond Registration as well as Corporate, Commercial, Employment, Family and Criminal Law. A 68% female staff compliment makes up the entirety of the firm.

The afternoon of delicious food, friendship and emotion-filled narratives, was concluded with a message personally meaningful to Georgiou - “Know your worth, find your WHY.  You are worth being celebrated!” – Andriette Georgiou, MONDVOL.
