Port Elizabeth, 16 July 2018 - The dream lives on: Port Elizabeth-based law firm, Rushmere Noach invited a group of children from Reach for a Dream to join them again this year to celebrate Mandela Day with an exciting Hawaiian-themed 30th Birthday party at the firm’s offices.
This is the second year that Rushmere Noach is celebrating Mandela Day with Reach for a Dream, and this year’s celebration was extra special for three reasons:
Mandela Day is celebrated internationally on 18 July, which is also the second day of the third school term this year, so the party at Rushmere Noach was hosted on Friday, the 13th of July.
Reach for a Dream believe in the power of dreams and encourage children affected by life-threatening illnesses to use their dreams to fight their illnesses, assisting where they can, and providing a platform for sponsors to get involved, both physically and financially. Over the past 30 years, Reach for a Dream has made 16 805 South African’s children’s dreams come true, affecting around 40 000 children annually, country-wide, and encouraging them to dream, laugh and just be kids.
Rushmere Noach and their staff are inspired by the wonderful work done by Reach for a Dream, and they wanted to support this work by getting directly involved with these special children to provide a day of games, fun activities, yummy snacks, gifts, belly laughs and sticky faces. After all, laughter is the best medicine, and the staff of Rushmere provided plenty! Rushmere Noach staff – directors, attorneys and admin staff alike, rolled up their sleeves and personally helped with the party planning and hosting ensuring each one contributed towards their 67 minutes of service to our local community in honour of the day’s namesake, Nelson Mandela.
In line with Reach for a Dream celebrating 30 years of making dreams come true this year and their campaign calling on the public to make a donation of only R30.00, Rushmere Noach made a donation of a hundred R30 ’s to the organisation’s Port Elizabeth branch at the party.
Rushmere Noach invites you to join them in celebrating Mandela Day and 100 years since Nelson Mandela’s birth by joining them in making a positive change in your own community which could include a gesture as small as making an R30.00 donation towards Reach for a Dream. To quote the great man himself: “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
